Principal Melinda Ehmer Biography

Melinda Ehmer spent the first 13 years of her educational career as a middle school and high school English Teacher.  She taught at Washington High School in South Bend from 1998-2008 and began her administrative career as principal at Tarkington Traditional School from 2008-2016.  During her time at Tarkington, the school was recognized for high achievement as an Indiana State Four Star School.  Other achievements include integrating technology into classrooms and incorporating parents into a traditional school model.  Ms. Ehmer has been Teacher of Year twice in her career and received recognition as a 40 Under 40 Award Recipient by the Chamber of Commerce.  She is currently working on a Ph.D. from Purdue University in Educational Leadership.  Ms. Ehmer has three teenage children and enjoys writing personal stories about parenting in her monthly school newsletters.  In her free time she enjoys cooking, writing, singing, camp fires, and adventure.  Ms. Ehmer is excited to now serve as principal at LaSalle Intermediate Academy.
